Alphonso Davies linked with Manchester United move

Bayern Munich left back Alphonso Davies has once again been linked with a move to Manchester United this week.
According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg “Manchester United’s interest in Alphonso Davies is becoming more concrete. Manchester United have been gathering extensive information on Davies for several days. The 23 year old would be a desired transfer for the vacant left-back position. In recent months, Manchester United have already made an informal inquiry with the player’s camp. At present, there are no new talks about a contract extension with FC Bayern and Davies could leave the club as a free agent next summer.”
Davies has been at Bayern since 2018 and the Canadian still has not signed a new deal at the club. There is a good chance the full back may look to leave the Bundesliga giants, with Real Madrid rumoured to have garnered the most interest in the player so far. However it now seems Madrid might face competition from Manchester United, who seem to have made enquiries with Davies agents in the last few months.
Davies is only 23 years old and is a pacy full back who has great ball carrying ability, is good defending one v one and works incredibly hard out of possession. His offensive tendencies means he regularly creates chances for the forwards and links up well in the final third. The Canadian does however have a record of picking up injuries and missing considerable periods of time on the sidelines. Injuries in the left back position are an issue the club will want to alleviate and potentially not make worse, so is Davies a realistic long term option? It seems the club might be willing to take that gamble, if the interest in Davies is genuine.
